Florida Riding, Hiking and Biking Trails
There is a number of trails that wander
through Crystal River and Citrus Counties.
There are many ways to surround yourself with the natural outdoor
beauty that Crystal River is famous for. Hiking is very popular in
this area with the Withlacoochee State Trail, a 46 mile paved trail
starting in Citrus, winding through Hernando and ending in Pasco county. Open from
sunrise to sunset every day of the year it is available for hikers
and anyone looking for an opportunity to enjoy a stroll through
Central Florida's wonderful scenery. There are picnic shelters and
benches along the way for a relaxing break. The Withlacoochee Trail
will soon be part of the Cross-Florida Greenways, connection
undisturbed pathways throughout the state.
While hiking, you can enjoy the wide range of Crystal River's
terrain’s, such as sandhills, scrub, hardwood, hammock, hydric
swamp, and marsh. Local
paths, interpretive nature walks and hiking trails each
feature their own unique combination of ecosystems, flora and fauna.
